This trailhead is close to Darrington. It is a great early spring little hike through the forest and woods along the river.
The trail is in good shape this spring, nothing too hard to get over and the trail is pretty easy to follow. Only a few patches of snow.

Everyone is talking about the government changing the law that bans guns in our national parks. I put up a quick 2 minute survey to see what you think.
Should they start letting people carry loaded guns in National Parks??
I think the current law has worked fine for many years but I want to know what you think.

Good hike this time of year. Easy parking in the lot. Only a couple of downed trees on the trail. Lots of snow at higher elevations about 5 feet at the top.
A little icy but not too bad. Don't hike in Tennis Shoes and if you have those newfangled Yak Trax, Highly recommended especially on the way back down. Last year our trails suffered some major damage from storms. Mount Rainier was hit hard but with a lot of volunteer help. Many of the trails were reopened after quick repair work and some major road reconstruction. This winter so far we have escaped any major damage. Other than the usual trees downed by wind and snow. It is looking good but remember we still have damage from 3 years ago to M Johnsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-960150322555996674.post-81615177140118280792008-01-19T17:38:00.000-08:002008-01-19T18:08:02.454-08:00Welcome
